Dev Deepavali

Dev Deepavali, also known as the “Festival of Lights of the Gods,” is a Hindu festival celebrated in the holy city of Varanasi, India. It typically falls on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Kartika, which is usually in November. Dev Deepavali is a significant and grand celebration that serves as a prelude to the popular festival of Diwali.

During Dev Deepavali, the ghats (steps leading to the river) along the sacred Ganges River in Varanasi are beautifully decorated with thousands of clay lamps and oil lamps. The entire city is illuminated, creating a mesmerizing and enchanting atmosphere. Pilgrims and locals come to the ghats to take part in various rituals and activities.
